Stephen Francis Szostek

WESTBROOK – Stephen Francis Szostek passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 27, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. He was 79.

Born in Salem, Mass., he graduated from Merrimac College with his undergraduate degree and from New Hampshire College with a master’s degree. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he spent his active-duty years in Rota, Spain, later serving in the Naval Reserves.

Stephen had an extensive and rewarding career in accounting and financial planning, spanning more than 40 years. He retired in 2016 as a Certified Financial Planner. After his retirement he enjoyed playing more than 100 rounds of golf a year, spending time with family and friends and his beloved cats.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen; and a large extended family.

His family would like to thank the nurses in the Oncology department at Mercy Hospital in Portland for their compassionate care during his illness.
