Obituary: Michelle Lee Spiller

Michelle Lee Spiller, 57, of Westbrook, Maine, died peacefully at home on Oct. 22, 2026, surrounded by her husband and her beloved children.
Born in Hayward, California, on May 5, 1969, Michelle was the daughter of Jeannette Warren and Guy Gagne. After a life that stitched together warm conversation, a love of cooking, and a deep appreciation for nature, she returned to her roots in Maine, where she lived with her husband, Al “Bubba” Spiller, in Westbrook.
Michelle was celebrated for her open‑handed kindness and her uncanny ability to turn strangers into friends. “Her kitchen was the heart of her home,” said one neighbor. “She could make anyone feel seen and valued.” A self‑taught chef, she delighted family members with elaborate meals and sweet desserts, turning the kitchen into a place of shared joy. Her greatest happiness came, however, from spending time outdoors with Bubba. Together they explored the northern woods of Maine, camped under starlit skies, attended concerts, and simply savored the quiet beauty of the natural world.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Al “Bubba” Spiller; her father, Guy Gagne; and her six children—Steven Moreau of Westbrook; Ciarra and son‑in‑law Josh Chase of Naples; Shania McCrillis and partner Brandon Wood of Casco; Jason and daughter‑in‑law Taylor Spiller of Standish; and Jake Spiller. She also leaves behind a brother, Rick, three sisters—Pam, Maryann, and Kelly—numerous nieces and nephews, and six grandchildren who will forever be her “meme”—Peytan, Olivia, Dominic, Cole, Lucy, and Levi.
Michelle was predeceased by her mother, Jeannette Warren, and her grandmother, Mary Ann Blanchet.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Route 22) in Buxton. Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial and to share their memories online at the funeral home’s website, www.mainefuneral.com.
In a life marked by generosity, culinary creativity, and an unending love for family and the outdoors, Michelle Lee Spiller leaves a legacy of warmth and connection that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
