Michael Barr

WINDHAM – Michael Barr passed away unexpectedly following a sudden illness on Aug. 17, 2026. He was born Aug. 12, 1987, to Tom and Cindy Barr in Windham.

A capable and driven athlete, Mike—or “Mikey” to those closest to him—excelled at every sport he tried, particularly in football, helping Windham’s fledgling program grow into a formidable opponent and earning a selection to play in the Lobster Bowl his senior year. After attending Northeastern University to study business management, he returned home to become a fixture in the Portland hospitality scene at Bull Feeney’s before partnering with his brother, Tom, at ¡TACO ESCOBARR! and opening the Blue Rooster Food Co. in 2014.

He loved traveling, fishing, the company of friends and family, and was devoted to his beloved dog, Lucy, and his late dog, Lido.

In recent years, Mike was a steadfast presence for his family through his father’s illness and remained a devoted support to his mother in the years that followed. He was an adored uncle who brought laughter and joy to his niece and nephews, especially when passing down his love and knowledge of fishing. Most recently, Mike took on a new trade restoring homes under the mentorship of Joe Gresik, an incredibly dedicated friend to the Barr family.

Michael was predeceased by his grandparents, Thomas and Rita Barr of Windham (1999, 2020), his grandmother, Cynthia Stiles of Westbrook (2020); and his father, Thomas Barr Jr. (2021).

He is survived by his mother, Cynthia Barr of Windham; his brother, Justin Barr of Scarborough; his brother, Thomas Barr III, his wife Megan of Cape Elizabeth, and their children Thomas, Stanley, Jack, and Ruby; his former wife and longtime friend, Nadia Solimon; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.
