Windham, Maine – October 20, 2026

Mary Ann Albert, a beloved member of the Windham community, died unexpectedly at her home on October 19, 2026, at the age of 61. Born in Westbrook on July 3, 1965, she was the youngest daughter of the late Roland Wilfred Albert and the late Janet Adeline (Rondeau) Albert.

Albert grew up in Westbrook, where she graduated from Westbrook High School in 1983. While a student she was active in the school’s Sock & Buskin Society, a theatrical group that fostered her love of performance and community. After high school she pursued a variety of careers, including running her own housekeeping business.

In 2012, Albert completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course and began full‑time work at the Barron Center in Portland the following year. She later earned certification as a Medication Technician and continued her service at the same facility. Albert’s career was distinguished by her compassion; she cared for residents and staff alike, and she also tended to her own parents while they were residents at the Barron Center. She cared for her father during the last months of his life and for her mother through the final years of her life, including the challenges of the COVID‑19 pandemic.

Friends and family recall Albert as vivacious, fun‑loving, and self‑less. “She made friends easily and maintained friendships from grade school through every place she worked,” said a family member. She was known for her natural caregiving abilities and her genuine affection for the residents of the Barron Center.

Albert’s passions extended beyond her professional life. A lifelong cat lover, she owned several feline companions over the years, beginning with her first cat, Gus, and concluding with Goatee, who recently passed away. She also treasured beach outings, often spending time at Scarborough Beach and Pine Point Beach with sisters, cousins, and friends.

Her musical tastes included classics from the Beatles, Tom Petty, and Bruce Springsteen. One of her favorite pastimes was watching her brother Peter play guitar, whether in solo performances or with various bands, most recently the group Legolas.

Albert is survived by her sister Nancy Tarpinian and her husband Michael of Westbrook, brother Paul of Harrison, brother Peter and his wife Catherine of Westbrook, and sister Becky of Tilton, New Hampshire. Several nieces and nephews were also close to her. Friends who will miss her include long‑time companions Susan Ledoux, Kristine Thuotte, and Judy Nelson Bouchard. Her parents predeceased her.

Services for Albert will be held on November 12 at the Dolby, Blais & Segee law office, 35 Church Street, Westbrook. The visiting hour will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., and a gathering at Bruno’s Restaurant, 33 Allen Avenue, Portland.

An online tribute is available at DolbyBlaisSegee.com for those who wish to leave condolences or share memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations in her memory:

  • Residents Benefit Fund, Barron Center, 1145 Brighton Avenue, Portland, ME 04102
  • Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, P.O. Box 336, Westbrook, ME 04098
  • Online: arlgp.org/memorial

The community of Windham and the wider region mourns the loss of a woman whose kindness, energy, and dedication touched the lives of many. Her legacy will live on through the memories of those who knew her and the continued care she championed at the Barron Center.
