**Maine Woman Passes Away at Gosnell Memorial Hospice** YARMOUTH – Marianne Therese McNally‑Purda, 64, of Yarmouth, died peacefully on September 12, 2026, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice. The 64‑year‑old was surrounded by her family in her final moments. McNally‑Purda was born in Millinocket and grew up in the North Maine region. After graduating from Brewer High School in 1979, she earned a degree in business merchandising from the University of Maine in Orono in 1981. She devoted much of her life to her family, raising three daughters and working as a stay‑at‑home mother. In August 2019 she married Walter Purda of Yarmouth, and the couple enjoyed a shared life that included trips to tropical islands, Florida, and frequent stays in Boothbay Harbor and at a camp on West Carry Pond. McNally‑Purda’s bright personality and sense of humor were a source of joy for many. “To know her was to love her,” said a family friend. She is survived by her husband, Walter Purda; her daughters Jennafer Gould of Paris, Ky., and Mallory Chapman, who lives with her husband Christopher Chapman of Old Orchard Beach. McNally‑Purda’s parents, Wendall and Christine McNally of Westbrook, and her brothers—David McNally (wife Linda) of Brewer, Jeff McNally (wife Kathy) of Raymond, and Michael McNally of Westbrook—also survive her. She leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews. McNally‑Purda was predeceased by daughter Kristen Gould and cousin Frances Butler. The family expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Leslie Bradford and the oncology team, as well as the Cancer Care and IV Therapy Department at the Maine Health Cancer Center in Scarborough. They also thanked the hospice home‑health nurses and all staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice for their compassionate care during her final days. Funeral arrangements will remain private in accordance with the wishes of the family. A memorial page with condolences can be viewed online at . Marianne’s legacy of warmth, laughter, and devotion will be remembered by all who knew her.
