Lauralee Lidz, 64, of Scarborough, Passes Away

Scarborough, Aug. 5, 2026 – Lauralee Lidz, a longtime resident of Scarborough and former IT contractor, died on August 5 after a brief stay at the Gosnell Hospice House. The 64‑year‑old was survived by a wide circle of family, friends and a beloved pet.

Lidz was born in Englewood, New J., on March 3, 1962. She grew up in Key Biscayne, Fla., where her parents worked as research scientists for the U.S. Geological Survey at the Fisher’s Island facility. She attended Ransom‑Everglades School and earned semesters at the Universities of Miami, South Florida, Tampa and Rochester, N.Y. before launching an information‑technology career in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2000 she relocated to Scarborough, where she worked for Fairchild Semiconductor and later served as an independent contractor, writing code and updating systems for hospitals, municipalities and private companies.

Lidz’s parents, Louis Lidz and Barbara Holland Lidz, both passed away before her. Her mother died in 2019, and her father had succumbed to leukemia in 1967; her sister Carolyn had predeceased her in the same year. She was survived by her aunt and godmother, Darcy Holland of Newbury, Mass.; her cat, Max; and a shared dog, Bodhi. Other relatives include uncle John Holland of Copper City, Mich.; cousins Caitlin Holland, Cindy Goulazian Leberman and Peter Goulazian. Friends and extended family also mourn her loss, including Kimberly Logan; the Logan family of Scarborough; Dave Gray and his wife Jean of Buxton; and longtime friend Lisa Peaslee of Tampa, Fla.

Lidz expressed deep appreciation for the care she received from Maine Medical and OBGYN oncologist Dr. Laurie Small and her medical team, as well as the support of staff at the Scarborough Infusion Center, where she had been treated for more than a decade.

A private burial service will be held in the future at Riverside Cemetery in Woodstock, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, mourners are encouraged to make donations to an animal shelter or the SPCA. Condolences and further information are available online at hobbsfuneralhome.com.

Lauralee Lidz will be remembered for her dedication to technology, her generosity to colleagues and her affection for her family and pets.
