Kristin E. Lindvall

PORTLAND – Kristin E. Lindvall, 56, of Portland, died on June 15, 2026. Kristin was born on Dec. 19, 1969, in Bath, the daughter of Jane Whittaker and Larry Lindvall.

Kristin was educated in Bath schools, and graduated from Morse High School in 1988. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from USM.

At the age of 19, Kristin moved to the city of Portland and never looked back. She loved the music and food scene, and found her extended family and community there. She spent countless nights out in the Old Port and made many good memories with friends at Amigo’s in the 90’s.

She got to know the city through waitressing, and if you talked to her, underneath her sarcasm was a deep love and pride for Portland. She worked at the travel agency Auto Europe for several years, but her real passion was volunteering at the Preble Street Resource Center. She was a dedicated long term volunteer, sometimes doing multiple meal shifts in a single day. She was named Volunteer of the Month in August of 2018. Kristin believed strongly in social causes and social justice. Her voice and presence could be heard and felt at many gatherings around Portland.

One of Kristin’s favorite things to do was to grab her boogie board, hop on the Amtrak, and ride down to Old Orchard Beach in the summer. She loved to ride the waves, then get some pier fries, a slice of pizza, and sit and people watch. Kristin could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, she had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She also loved camping in Bar Harbor with family and reading by the pool with a Pall Mall close by. She loved cooking and her favorite vegetable, garlic!

Kristin is survived by her parents, Jane Whittaker of Georgetown and Larry Lindvall of Myrtle Beach, SC, her stepmother Kate Gates of Colorado, her stepfather Jon Whittaker (Kathleen) of South Portland. She is also survived by brothers, Marc Lindvall of Georgetown, Nathan Gates (Tera) of Colorado, and her sisters, Lisa Crosby of Georgetown, and Amy Whittaker of Georgetown; nieces: Lauren Crosby (Jon), Sadia Crosby and wife (Courtney Veinotte Crosby), and Mollie Crosby (Austin) all of Georgetown; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to her lifelong friends Heidi and Jen.

A celebration of Kristin’s life will be held Monday, July 6 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the Georgetown Community Center, 19 Old Schoolhouse Road, Georgetown, Maine.
