AUBURN — Gwendolyn “Gwen” Winch Jackiewecz, a longtime resident of Auburn, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at D’Youville Pavilion, a senior living and rehabilitation center in Lewiston. She was 74.
Jackiewecz’s family said she died peacefully and without incident. “Gwen was a quiet, caring presence who will be missed by all who knew her,” a family spokesperson said, adding that the family appreciates the outpouring of support during this difficult time.
D’Youville Pavilion, located on River Road in Lewiston, offers a range of services for older adults, including independent living, assisted‑living, memory‑care and short‑term rehabilitative therapies. The facility has served the twin‑city area for more than two decades, providing a homelike environment for seniors and supporting families as they navigate the later stages of life.
Jackiewecz’s death marks the loss of a familiar face in Auburn’s close‑knit community. Local residents recall her involvement in neighborhood gatherings and her willingness to lend a hand to friends and neighbors. While details of her career and personal interests have not been released, those who knew her describe her as a person of quiet strength and compassion.
Funeral arrangements are pending. The family has asked for privacy and requests that expressions of sympathy be directed to the D’Youville Pavilion’s resident‑activity fund or to a local charity of the donor’s choice. A memorial service is expected to be announced later this week, according to a statement from the family.
City officials and community leaders have expressed their condolences. “Our thoughts are with Gwen’s family and the many people whose lives she touched,” said Auburn’s mayor in a brief statement. “She was a valued member of our community, and her absence will be felt.”
