Doreen E. Boucher, 75, of Brunswick, Passes Away

BRUNSWICK – Doreen E. Boucher, a longtime resident of Brunswick and former employee of the Bath Iron Works, died peacefully on September 24, 2026. The 75‑year‑old was born in Bath on September 6, 1951, to Lawrence and Laurene Mattor.

Boucher graduated from Morse High School in 1969 and went on to earn a degree from the University of Maine at Orono. She later completed an accounting program at New England College, adding a professional qualification to her diverse résumé.

Her career began at Bath Iron Works, where she spent many years before moving into the equestrian world. Boucher served as the stable manager at Sable Oaks Equestrian Center in Brunswick, a role that reflected her lifelong passion for horses. She owned several horses during her lifetime and was an active participant in the local riding community.

Beyond her work, Boucher was known for her love of reading and her keen interest in politics. She often hosted “Sisters Weekends,” gatherings with close friends where she would discuss current events and share her perspectives.

Boucher is survived by her sisters Dorcas and Diane and their respective spouses, Peter and Danny. She is also survived by nephews Darren Pye, Ben and Jacob Lizanecz, and nieces Paige Pye and Rebecca Zimmerman. She was predeceased by her husband Al Boucher, partner Steve Haining, and brother Douglas Mattor.

In keeping with her wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private committal is scheduled for a later date. Family members and friends wishing to share condolences or thoughts may visit the family’s website at www.desmondfuneralhomes.com.

Those wishing to honor Boucher’s memory may make a memorial contribution to the Patten Free Library in Bath. Donations can be directed to pattenlibrary@email.com or by phone at 207‑443‑5141 (ext. 1019).

The community mourns the loss of a dedicated employee, compassionate equestrian, and devoted family member. Her legacy of service and passion for the arts and politics will be remembered by all who knew her.
