Obituary: Donna (Murchie) Sturgis

 Donna (Murchie) Sturgis PORTLAND – It is with profound sadness that the family shares the news of Donna’s passing on May 27, 2026. She was born Aug. 26, 1947, in Portland, daughter of George and Patricia Murchie. She grew up in South Portland then moved to Gorham in 1961 where she would reside the rest of her life. She graduated from Gorham High School in 1965 where she met her future husband, David Sturgis. For the next 60 years they were inseparable. She is survived by her husband; three sons, David (Heath), Brian, and Jonathan (Amanda); granddaughters Julia and Olive; brother, Lin; uncle Robert; and daughter-in-law, Michele; many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her very close friends Diana, Sharon; and cousin, Patti. Donna loved and went to many Neil Diamond concerts, collected, read and enjoyed Stephen King novels, many were autographed for her, and vacationing at Pemaquid Point. Although small in stature, she possessed a larger than life personality. Donna’s passing leaves a substantial void in the family that will be impossible to replace.
