WELLS – Diana (Elkins) Young, 81, of Bald Hill Road, died peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Avita of Wells.
She was born in Saco, Maine, on Dec. 12, 1944, the daughter of Robert Elkins and Ruth Gladys (Murray) Woodward. She was educated in the Wells School system and graduated from Wells High School.
Diana established a life-long career in banking where she progressed from her initial position as a teller, ultimately retiring from Kennebunk Savings Bank in 2012 as assistant branch manager. During her career, she was an active member of Rotary International in Wells, eventually serving as its president and on its board of directors.
Diana was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister whose warmth touched the lives of many. She enjoyed camping at Beaver Dam Campground in Berwick and vacationing in Aruba. A talented cook, her homemade donuts and chocolate cream pie were special treats during the holidays.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Richard, and beloved dog, Dylan, of Wells; her grandchildren, Jesse Martel, Darci Martel, Mallory Martel; and her great-granddaughter, Daijah Shepard. She was predeceased by her son, Richard C. (Bubba) Young, Jr., her daughter, Bonnie Baillargeon; her sister, Natalie Sjulander, her brothers, Wayne Elkins, Guy Woodward and Roland (Ronnie) Woodward; her mother, Ruth Woodward, and her stepfather, Guy Woodward, Sr.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Ocean View Cemetery, Wells, with Reverend David Hughes officiating.
