Claudette Berdine Wise

BREWSTER, Mass. – With hearts full of sorrow, and gratitude of having such a loving, wonderful mother, we announce the passing of Claudette Berdine Wise on Aug. 13, 2026, in Chatham, Mass.

Claudette was born on April 13, 1938, to parents Albert and Yvonne (Bourgoin) Pelletier of Falmouth, Maine. She grew up on their small farm on Blackstrap Road where she learned early on the value of hard work and faith. Even as a child, Claudette approached life with a mix of sweetness and sassiness. Sometimes you didn’t know which one you were going to get, but it always made her a joy to be around.

After graduating from Falmouth High School, she attended Holy Ghost Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge, Mass., earning her LPN. On May 11, 1964. Claudette married professional musician, teacher, and artist, Emanuel “Manny” Wise. She and Manny settled in Danvers, Mass., and after Scott and Carrie were born, Claudette transitioned from nursing to caring and raising their young children. Once they were both in school, the ever-protective mom became the driver of their local Danvers school bus. Claudette had a huge place in her heart for all children. She spent many years babysitting her “special little girl Amanda” and like her own children, found it rewarding watching her grow up.

Claudette was a fashionista with a flair; was an excellent cook; and great at crafting and finding bargains. She and her family enjoyed visiting the Maine homestead, whose house was a gathering place to catch up and have fun with her parents, her three siblings, and all her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening; water aerobics; and absolutely loved swimming at Seymour Pond near their summer place in Cape Cod.

Claudette was devoted to her family and found comfort in her devotion to her Catholic faith.

She was predeceased by her parents; sisters Velma M. Boulos and Lorelle J. Pelletier; and by the love of her life, Manny, who she was married to for 55-plus years.

She is survived by her son, Scott Wise, of Salt Lake, Utah, her daughter, Carrie Beard and son-in-law, Kevin Beard of Brewster, Mass.; her dear brother, Peter N. Pelletier of Brewer; and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Broad Reach for their excellent care and support.

A Catholic Mass for Claudette will be held at the Holy Redeemer Church in Chatham, Mass., as well as a Catholic Mass held in Maine. Both will be announced at a later date.
