Charles E. Martel
BIDDEFORD – Charles E. Martel, 85, passed away on July 23, 2026, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
He was born in Biddeford on March 24, 1941, the son of Omer and Yvonne (Bouffard) Martel. He attended St. Andre School and graduated from St. Louis High School with the Class of 1959.
Following graduation, Charles served in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Corporal. After his military service, he was employed as a heat treater at LYN-FLEX and later at W.H. Nichols.
Charles enjoyed golfing, bowling, walking, and exercising. He especially enjoyed playing cards with his family and working on jigsaw puzzles.
He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Lionel Martel, Conrad Martel, Fernand Martel, and Marcel Martel; and five sisters, Therese Blais, Florence Letarte, Gertrude Lamontagne, Gabrielle Beaulieu, and Jacqueline Dion.
He is survived by his sister, Rachel R. Gendron, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A Funeral Outside of Mass will follow at the chapel at 1 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
