Charles “Chucky” Cogswell
PORTLAND – Charles “Chucky” Cogswell, 78, passed away June 15, 2026. Chucky was born Oct. 28, 1947, the eldest of four boys born to parents Walter Cogswell Sr. and Annie Dibiase Cogswell.
He grew up on Munjoy Hill among family and friends he held throughout his life time. He attended Portland schools, graduating from Portland High School in 1967.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving four years during the Vietnam era. After completing his military service Chucky returned to Portland, secured a great position as national sales manager with Delta Faucets.
Shortly thereafter he married and fathered a son, Jason and daughter, Krista. He took great pride in his son’s athletic career which he was able to closely follow as a long-time high school basketball and football official.
Upon retirement he spent much of his time on the golf course, supporting local and regional sports, as well as Veteran Affairs.
He was predeceased by his father, mother; brother, Michael; and son, Jason.
He is survived by his brothers Walter, Glenn; and daughter, Krista.
There will be a celebration of life in Chucky’s honor by family and friends held at Bruno’s Restaurant on Aug. 27 between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
