Obituary: Carolyn Lee Elliott Harris &Kevin Charles Harris

WEST BATH – Carolyn Lee Elliott Harris and her beloved husband, Kevin Charles Harris, longtime residents of West Bath, Maine, passed away peacefully together at home on July 13, 2026.

Carolyn was born in Freedom, Maine on March 18, 1949, the daughter of Howard and Bertha Elliott. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Barbara Angell. Kevin was born in Bromley, Kent, England on August 10, 1950, the son of Glen and Grace Harris. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, James.

Carolyn and Kevin are lovingly remembered by Carolyn’s two children, Lisa Burpee Roney and her husband, Jay, and Michael Burpee and his wife Norma. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Allison Roney Curley and her husband Michael, Michael Burpee, Grayson Burpee, and Miranda Burpee, as well as one great-grandchild.

Carolyn and Kevin shared a storybook romance and a marriage filled with devotion. They first met when Carolyn, a longtime Shaw’s employee, helped Kevin gather provisions for an upcoming boat charter he was captaining. Kevin’s heart was always on the water, where he spent his career as a ship’s captain and marine surveyor. The water was also where he sailed his second love, Huntress, a 35-foot wooden Hinckley Pilot that was the pride of every harbor where she moored. Sailing along the Maine coast and to Tortola and the surrounding islands brought Carolyn and Kevin great joy.

Carolyn’s love of cooking, music, and gardening filled their home with sweet aromas, beautiful sounds, and the warmth of family and friends who gathered often in their kitchen. Together, they built a devoted life and marriage of 37 years. The family will be forever grateful to Carolyn and Kevin’s dear friends for the kindness, love, and companionship they shared over the years.

You are warmly invited to a celebration of life honoring Carolyn and Kevin. The service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Corliss Street Baptist Church. Immediately following, a burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery. Please join the family afterward for a reception and sharing of memories at the church.
