Carol R. Riley

PORTLAND – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol R. Riley, born on March 2, 1945, in Portland, who left this world on Aug. 19, 2026. Carol was a loving mother, a dedicated RN, an amazing baker, and a passionate supporter of youth sports. She spent her life caring for others, making a tremendous impact in the healthcare industry, and in the lives of those around her.

Carol’s love for life was evident in her many passions. She found joy in traveling, family genealogy, nurturing her garden, and cheering on her beloved granddaughter at various sports events, but especially supporting her through her dancing. Her favorite role of grandmother brought her immense pride and happiness. A devoted supporter of Standish youth sports, Carol loved being part of the community and cheering for young athletes. Her warm smile and infectious laughter will be missed by all who knew her.

Carol is survived by her cherished daughter, Wendy Nugent; her son-in-law Mitch Nugent; as well as her beloved granddaughter, Madison Rae Nugent, who will carry on her legacy of love and compassion. She is also survived by her sister Ann (David) Gagnon, her brother William (Pamela) Reynolds, her sisters-in-law Nancy (Ron) Sampson, Gloria (Darrell) McBee, Cheryl Riley, and Pamela (Charles) Gagnon. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol was predeceased by her husband, Arthur R. Riley Jr., her father, E. Lawrence Reynolds, her mother, Dorothy Reynolds, as well as her beloved sister, Betty Roberts. She was also predeceased by her loving in-laws, Arthur R. Riley Sr. and Arlene E. Riley.

Visitation will be held on Saturday Aug. 29, 2026, at Dolby Blais & Segee, 434 River Road, Windham from 12-1 p.m., with a Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at White Rock Cemetery in Gorham. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor and celebrate Carol’s wonderful life.
