BRUNSWICK – Carol Ann Goodridge Wells, 76, passed away peacefully at her Brunswick, home on April 17, 2026, after a short illness.
She was born on March 16, 1950, in Lewiston, Maine, to Mary Lou (Theberge) and Ernest Goodridge of Lisbon Falls. She attended Portland schools and graduated from Deering High School in 1968. In the summer of that year, Carol married Richard “Dick” Wells in Portland, Maine. In 1973, they moved to Windham, Maine, where they raised their son David and daughter Deanne.
She was the founder of the Downeast Chevy Classics Car Club. The club would cruise down Congress Street on Friday nights and had many weekend cruises and car shows around New England.
Carol was a proud Forever Member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.
Carol had many jobs over the years, including working as a cook, a receptionist, and owning a daycare while her children were in school.

Carol was a fiercely independent, proud, and outspoken conversationalist and Maine animal lover. She was generous and adored parties, muscle cars, and the Christmas season. Carol was the proudest of being a mother to her son, daughter, and her many four-legged family members over the years.

Sadly, her beloved little sister Beverly, also passed away unexpectedly within a few weeks of Carol’s passing.
She is also survived by her brothers, Steve Goodridge of Windham and Eric “Ric” Goodridge of Portland; her cat, Pepper; and her best friend, Joan Puterbaugh.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
