SCARBOROUGH – Bradley Stephen Dupee, of Scarborough, died unexpectedly at his home on Aug. 7, 2026. He was born on Sept. 21, 1943, to Mahlon and Elizabeth Dupee in Keene, N.H. During his elementary school years, his family moved to Concord, N.H., where he grew up. He attended Concord High School, graduating in 1961, and later attended Bryant College in Rhode Island, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business.

Following college, Brad began his distinguished 35-year military career on Aug. 10, 1964, when he enlisted as a private in the New Hampshire Army National Guard. After completing basic training and advanced individual training, he graduated from New Hampshire’s Officer Candidate School, Class 9, in July 1966 and was commissioned as an officer. He began his leadership career as a platoon leader in Battery A, “Searchlight,” 197th Field Artillery, with his first command being the Searchlight Battery.

In 1974, Brad transferred to the 3rd Battalion, 197th Field Artillery, where he became Commander of Service Battery and later served as the battalion’s Intelligence Officer. He went on to hold numerous leadership positions within the New Hampshire National Guard, including Recruiting and Retention Officer, Equal Opportunity Officer, Logistics Officer, Maintenance Officer, Supply and Service Management Officer, and Brigade Executive Officer.

From 1990 to 1993, Brad served as Battalion Commander of the 1st Battalion 172nd Field Artillery.

He later joined the senior staff as Director of Planning, Operations, Training and Military Support for Civil Authorities before serving in his final assignment as Deputy STARC Commander.

In 1999, after more than 35 years of dedicated military service, Brad retired with the rank of Colonel. Among the honors he received during his career were the Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service Medal, recognizing his exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to the soldiers he served alongside and led.

In 2026, Brad had the honor of participating in Honor Flight Maine, traveling to Washington, D.C., with his oldest son, Bradley Jr., as his escort. The experience was a meaningful recognition of his military career and a fitting tribute to a lifetime of service.

Throughout his professional life, Brad brought the same outgoing personality and ability to connect with people to his work. His career included Colbath Associates, Federal Distributors, and Keller Williams Real Estate, where he was part of “The Dupee Team” alongside Judy. Most recently, Brad worked for Enterprise Mobility, a role he continued to enjoy during his retirement years and where he formed many wonderful friendships. For Brad, work was never simply about the job; it was another opportunity to meet people, make connections, and form lasting friendships.

After marrying his beloved wife, Judith Linda Edes Dupee, affectionately known as “Tinkerbell,” Brad moved to Concord, New Hampshire, where they began their life together. For more than 40-plus years, Brad and Judy shared a loving life filled with family, friendship, and countless memories. They later moved to Portland and eventually settled in Scarborough, where Brad spent much of his life building his career, raising his family, and creating a life together with Judy that would be remembered and cherished for generations to come.

Whether on the golf course, out on the water, behind the wheel of his Corvette, or surrounded by family and friends, Brad genuinely loved life and the people who made it special. He cherished his children and grandchildren deeply and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

Those who knew Brad will remember him not only for his many accomplishments, but for the relationships he built throughout his life. Brad leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a remarkable legacy that will live on through his children and grandchildren, the soldiers he led, the friends he treasured, and the countless lives he touched.

Brad was predeceased by his beloved wife, Judy, who passed in 2010. In the years that followed, he was fortunate to find love and companionship with Christine Watters, who was by his side for the last 14 years. Together, they shared a wonderful life filled with love, laughter, adventures, and countless special memories.

Brad was a devoted father to Bradley Stephen Dupee Jr. and his wife, Amy, Robin Letarte and her husband, Bryan, and Eric Dupee and his wife, Erin. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Madison Dupee, Laine Dupee, Chase Dupee, Emma Letarte, Sam Letarte, Garrett Dupee, and Caleb Dupee. He is also survived by his sister, Diana Osgood of New Hampshire; his nephew, Troy Osgood; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, ME 04103. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service with military honor at Evergreen Cemetery on 672 Stevens Ave., Portland, ME 04103.
