Betsy A. Sacks

PORTLAND – Betsy Sacks passed away peacefully in Portland, on Aug. 11, 2026, with her children at her bedside. She was 90 years old.

Born Betsy Agnes Person on Feb. 2, 1936 in Orange, New Jersey, she graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1954 and then studied nursing at Upsala College and the Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing in East Orange, New Jersey. She practiced as a registered nurse for more than 40 years in hospital, long term care, hospice, ambulance and public school settings.

Betsy is survived by her five children, ten grandchildren, and one great grandson. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul. They made their home of more than 50 years together in Cazenovia, New York, where they raised their children; Paul, Carl, Kristina, (Gurrieri), Eric and Thea (Sames). For her last 11 years, Betsy resided in South Portland, near her daughter Thea.
