OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Barbara Patricia DiModica, 90, passed away peacefully on Aug. 13, 2026 in Old Orchard Beach surrounded by her family. She was the devoted wife of 65 years to Philip V. DiModica, who predeceased her.

Barbara was born Jan. 2, 1936 in Boston, Mass., the only child of Herman Faucy and Stephania Narushkevich. She married Philip V. DiModica at St. Stanislaus Polish Catholic Church in Chelsea, Mass. on Oct. 14, 1956.

Barbara grew up in Chelsea, Mass. was a 1953 graduate of Chelsea High School, and graduated first in her class from Hickox Secretarial School in Boston, Mass. She was hired as a legal secretary prior to graduation by Samuel E. Seegel, Esq, State Street, Boston.

The family vacationed in Old Orchard Beach beginning in the late 1950s, bought a cottage and took up full-time residence several years later.

Barbara’s family was always the most important thing in her life, and she devoted herself to this responsibility full time until her children were grown. She then worked for the Town of Old Orchard Beach in the assessor’s office for 20 years, retiring in 2006. She was a lifelong communicant and Eucharistic Minister at Margaret’s Church, serving as a CYO advisor and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was an active member of the Old Orchard Beach American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post #57, including time as president. An avid reader, she also enjoyed cooking, knitting and other hobbies, including following the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, her hometown teams.

ln addition to her husband Philip, Barbara was predeceased by her son-in-law, Daniel Aube.

She is survived by her four children, Barbara Aube of Old Orchard Beach with whom she lived, Michael and his wife June of Andover, Mass., P. Vincent and his wife Darlene of Saco and Stephanie and her husband Todd Hoyt of Saco. Also survived by seven grandchildren who were the love of her life, Catherine (Philip), Katherine, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Anthony, Alexandra and Francesca; and great-grandchildren, Gianna and Lorenzo.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Dennett Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church, 6 Saco Ave., Old Orchard Beach. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, Mass. at a later date.
