New Indian restaurant launches in Scarborough

A new Indian restaurant has opened in Scarborough in the former location of the Clean Eatz health food restaurant.
Coastal Curry had a soft opening Aug. 15 at 300 Gallery Boulevard. The 2,000-square-foot space has 49 seats.
“We chose to open in Scarborough because it is a growing community with a strong mix of local residents, families and visitors,” said co-owner Kiran Vellanki. “We saw an opportunity to bring authentic Indian cuisine to the area.”
Coastal Curry’s menu includes Indo-Chinese and Indian entrees like butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, biryani and tandoori dishes and naan breads. They are pursuing a license that will allow them to sell beer and wine later this year, according to Vellanki.
The restaurant will also feed food insecure residents on any day. Vellanki said staff will pack a free to-go meal for anyone in need upon request.
Coastal Curry is open for dinner this Monday from 4:30-10 p.m. Starting Tuesday, the restaurant will introduce its lunch buffet, which runs Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Coastal Curry will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., also offering its lunch buffet.
