Old Orchard Beach Welcomes New Brewery‑Restaurant After Lone Pine’s Closure

32 E. Grand Avenue, Old Orchard Beach — A fresh buzz has settled over Old Orchard Beach’s downtown as Joe Rousseau, owner of The Executive Motel and Crosswinds Cottages, officially opened the Old Orchard Brewing Company last week. The new establishment occupies the former Lone Pine Brewing Company building, which closed in late September, leaving a noticeable gap in the town’s limited brewery scene.

“It’s a great location. So far, it’s been actually really great,” Rousseau told reporters on opening day. The new venue offers beer on tap along with cocktails, pizza, soup, salad and nachos, and features an outdoor patio for patrons to soak up the coastal air.

The first weekend proved steady, and Rousseau is optimistic the brewery will become a local hangout spot. “There aren’t a lot of breweries down here,” he said. “It’s something to bring down to Old Orchard Beach and add to the community.”

Since the closure of Lone Pine, which was a familiar neighborhood brew for many residents, the town has lacked a dedicated beer destination. Rousseau’s new venture aims to fill that void. “We’ve had a lot of locals come in excited to see it open,” he noted, hinting at a warm reception from the community.

Looking ahead, Rousseau plans to broaden the brewery’s appeal. “In the future, I hope to begin brewing my own beer.” He added that the necessary state permits are still pending but expressed enthusiasm about the prospect. “It’ll be a new experience,” he laughed.

To keep the momentum going through the off‑season, the brewery will host game nights, open‑mic sessions and trivia nights. Next summer, Rousseau intends to bring live music to the space. “The sky’s the limit,” he said, underscoring his vision for a lively, year‑round gathering place.

The Old Orchard Brewing Company is open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

For residents and visitors alike, the new brewery and restaurant offers a new place to relax, enjoy local fare, and taste craft brews—an addition that promises to enhance Old Orchard Beach’s small‑town charm.
