Motorcyclist dies in 3-vehicle Windham crash

Motorcyclist Killed in Three‑Vehicle Crash on Route 302 in Windham, One Driver Arrested
A fatal collision on Route 302 in Windham on Wednesday evening left a motorcyclist dead and led to the arrest of a truck driver on charges of operating under the influence.
According to a press release from the Windham Police Department, the incident involved a white GMC pickup truck, a Honda Odyssey and a motorcycle traveling in opposite directions. Westbrook resident Chad Jordan was driving the pickup southbound when it struck the Odyssey, which was heading north. Jordan, whose truck then continued southward in the northbound lane, collided with the motorcycle. The motorcycle caught fire immediately, and its rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding the victim’s name until his family can be notified.
Windham police say preliminary investigation indicates Jordan was impaired at the time of the crash, a factor that appears to have caused the chain of events. Jordan was taken to the Cumberland County Jail on a charge of operating under the influence. Police said he could face additional charges as the investigation proceeds.
The incident underscores the dangers of impaired driving on Maine’s rural highways. Law enforcement officials are continuing to review the wreckage and traffic records to confirm the circumstances that led to the tragedy. The state is calling for increased enforcement of DUI laws and urging drivers to avoid alcohol and the road.
