Missing man found dead after falling off boat in Blue Hill

Elderly Man Found Dead in Blue Hill Waters
An 82‑year‑old man who had been missing for more than a week was discovered dead in the waters off Blue Hill, Hancock County, Maine, authorities said on Tuesday. The body, found by a 911 caller, was later identified as James Kannry of Blue Hill and the neighboring town of Virginia.
Kannry’s disappearance was first reported on September 20. According to a statement from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, investigators believe he fell off a boat sometime after that date. Despite a multi‑agency search that involved the Maine Marine Patrol and other local responders, no trace of the man was found in the days that followed.
The body was reported to have been located roughly five miles from the spot where investigators thought Kannry entered the water. First responders retrieved the remains from the water and, after a brief examination, confirmed the identity of the deceased.
The sheriff’s office has not released any additional details about the circumstances that led to Kannry’s fall or the nature of the search operations. No foul play has been indicated in the preliminary information released. The investigation remains ongoing.
