‘Meet the Press’ meets the flat-Earth president | Letter
100%

Anyone who has ever seen a sunset on the West Coast knows that the sun looks like it is sinking into the ocean. I would sometimes joke that this proves the Earth is flat. All we had to do was look at what was in front of our eyes.

Of course, astronomers have long proven that what we believe things look like is not what they are. President Trump, however, would like us to forget that truth.

This past weekend, Trump cut short a “Meet the Press” interview with Kristen Welker after she challenged his claim that the Democrats were stealing the California primary. When asked, “Do you have evidence to support that?” Trump replied, “All I have to do is look.”

Pure flat-Earth reasoning.

We can expect a lot more flat-Earth denial of reality from Trump come November. Without ever presenting any evidence, other than “it looks like,” Trump and his operatives will try to sow distrust in the outcome of 2026 elections in the hope that public furor will replace elected Democrats with unelected Republicans.

I hope most U.S. citizens, both those who have supported Trump and those who have not, are intelligent enough to recognize this for the scam it is.
