Massachusetts man charged after bomb threats that briefly shut down Kennebunk Town Hall

Revere, Massachusetts Man Charged with Terrorizing After Kennebunk Town Hall Bomb Threats
A 25-year-old man from Revere, Massachusetts, now faces a felony charge after two bomb threats forced the evacuation and temporary closure of Kennebunk Town Hall in August, according to police.
The threats, which were delivered via email on Aug. 12, prompted town hall employees to leave the building as a precaution. Kennebunk police closed the complex for the remainder of that day while the situation was assessed.
Officers called in bomb-detecting K-9 units to sweep the building, and no explosives were found. Despite the all-clear, the investigation that followed was far from routine. Kennebunk police's Criminal Investigations Division took the lead, drawing support from Maine State Police, Maine Capitol Police and the FBI.
After weeks of work, authorities announced Thursday that the Revere man has been formally charged with terrorizing, a Class C felony under Maine law. He is scheduled to appear at the York Judicial Center in Biddeford on Oct. 13.
A conviction on a Class C crime carries a potential penalty of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
