Man accused of sexually assaulting child at Naples campground over several years

81‑Year‑Old Kingston Man Arrested on Multiple Child‑Sexual‑Assault Charges
An 81‑year‑old resident of Kingston, New Hampshire, was taken into custody on Wednesday by the Kingston Police Department after being charged with five counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor at a campground in Naples, Maine. The charges, brought by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, include two Class B felonies, one Class C felony and two Class D misdemeanors.
The alleged assaults reportedly occurred over several years while Defina lived as a seasonal resident at the Four Seasons Campground in Naples. According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the incidents spanned a period during which the campground was open to the public. Defina is being held at the Rockingham County Jail in New Hampshire and will be extradited to Maine for a court hearing.
The sheriff’s office said the arrest was the result of a coordinated investigation that gathered evidence from multiple sources, including witness statements and surveillance footage taken at the campground. The charges are classified as “unlawful sexual contact” under Maine law, a serious offense that can carry substantial prison terms if the defendant is convicted.
Defina’s lawyer has not yet released a statement. The case is currently pending in Maine court, where a judge will determine whether the charges will proceed to trial. The sheriff’s office has not announced a date for the extradition hearing.
The investigation underscores ongoing efforts by Maine and New Hampshire law‑enforcement agencies to address and prevent sexual misconduct in recreational settings. The sheriff’s office has urged anyone with additional information to contact the Cumberland County Police Department.
