In the last few weeks, we have read many anti-Graham Platner letters to the editor from readers around the country. The two that stand out the most were from [the Hoosier who called him a “Nazi-styled communist”](https://www.centralmaine.com/2026/06/15/democrats-and-the-media-blindly-boost-platner-letter/) and the [writer from South Dakota](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/06/21/why-publish-inflammatory-letters-letter/) who believed anti-ICE demonstrators were paid protesters.
While it may be exciting that the nation’s eyes are on Maine, out-of-state readers should take their wild accusations and baseless lies to their local papers, and let Mainers use their own eyes and brains to make their decisions.
The bottom line is, the people are sick of the cronyism, the tariffs and the wars. The people want billionaires to pay their taxes, immigrants to be treated humanely and groceries to be affordable.
I don’t know why so many out-of-staters are writing to our paper, or why their letters are being published. There is one candidate who is going to bat for Mainers and Americans, and it’s not the septuagenarian who serves Trump and herself. Those of us living in Maine can plainly see that.
