Large police presence in Old Orchard Beach, suspect in custody

A domestic‑violence report was received by police early Wednesday, prompting a significant law‑enforcement presence around Union Avenue. Officers responded to the call and set up a sizable deployment in the area, according to the city’s police department.

The department has not released additional details about the incident, including the nature of the alleged violence, whether anyone was injured, or the identities of those involved. Investigators are reportedly continuing their work, but no arrests have been announced to date.

Union Avenue, a well‑known thoroughfare in the city, was temporarily cordoned off by police units, which included patrol cars and officers in standard gear. Local residents noted increased traffic and the presence of police vehicles on both sides of the street, which remained active until the evening.

While the police department has not provided a statement beyond the initial deployment, city officials confirmed that the response was in line with protocols for domestic‑violence complaints. The department reminded residents that all reports of domestic violence are taken seriously and are investigated thoroughly.

For now, the only confirmed facts are that a domestic‑violence report was filed, police responded with a large presence on Union Avenue, and the investigation is ongoing. The city will release further information once the inquiry is complete.
