Kennebunk’s Village Tavern closes permanently

The Village Tavern in Kennebunk permanently closed this week, the restaurant announced on social media.
In a Facebook post Thursday, the restaurant indicated Wednesday had been its final day of service.
Village Tavern said rising costs had been making it hard to stay open, and on Wednesday, the building’s landlords informed management that they were terminating the lease.
“Thank you to all who continued to support, saw our potential and where we were headed,” the post concluded. “We are deeply grateful for the friendships, celebrations, and meals we have shared with you all.”
No signs of activity were visible at the restaurant when a reporter stopped by late Friday morning. A sign by the door read, “Unfortunately closed until further notice. We appreciate you all!”

Village Tavern opened its doors at 110 Alfred Road in West Kennebunk in 2012 and changed hands in 2025, with chef Calvin Karparis taking ownership.
The menu featured upscale dishes including seafood, filet mignon and duck magret.
Karparis could not immediately be reached for comment Friday morning.
