July’s Side Door Coffeehouse features Ambrosia and Friends
100%

The July installment of Side Door Coffeehouse is Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick, 1 Middle St. Admission is $12 for adults and free for children 17 and under.

Signups for the 7 p.m. open mic start at 6:45 p.m. The featured headliner, Ambrosia and Friends, will perform from 8:30-9:30 p.m. The group will be joined by two-thirds of Trillium (Stephanie Bernier and Sue Michaud) on a few pieces, and pianist Derek Herzer will accompany on a few pieces and perform a couple of his favorites.

When Ambrosia (Heidi Neufeld, Tammis Donovan and Irene Austin) started singing together more than 10 years ag, the trio pondered what to call themselves.

“We like sweet, rich harmonies — harmonies you can almost taste! ‘Ambrosia’: food of the gods,” the group stated in a prepared release. “We emulate the likes of The Wailin’ Jennys, Mamuse and Red Molly while finding our material anywhere and everywhere. If it celebrates the sound of women’s voices, we consider it an Ambrosia song.”

Side Door Coffeehouse is a venue for local musicians and others (professional and amateur) to share their talents, and for residents and visitors of the Midcoast community to enjoy great entertainment and conversation in a relaxed setting. It is organized by a group of volunteers from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick.
