Teenage Girl Shot in Leg During St. Louis Jimmy John’s Dispute; Employee Charged
A 14‑year‑old girl was shot in the leg on a Saturday night in St. Louis after a heated dispute that began at a Jimmy John’s restaurant on the 3800 block of Laclede Avenue. The victim, who was transported to a local hospital, is reported to be in stable condition.
Police say the shooting occurred shortly before 6 p.m. near the intersection of Vandeventer and Laclede Avenues. A preliminary investigation by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department indicates the gunfire followed a disagreement involving the girl’s mother and several individuals linked to the restaurant. The mother’s connection to the Jimmy John’s remains under investigation.
According to court documents, the mother’s boyfriend entered the restaurant with the 14‑year‑old. A verbal argument with a former employee escalated outside, spilling into the parking lot. While the former employee, her boyfriend, and her juvenile daughter loaded into a vehicle and drove away, the employee of the restaurant—identified as 27‑year‑old Adam White—fired multiple rounds into the rear of the car. One bullet struck the girl’s left leg. Ballistic evidence confirmed damage to the vehicle’s trunk.
White initially fled the scene but later returned and was taken into custody. After being advised of his Miranda rights, he admitted firing at the vehicle and told detectives that he had left the gun at his home.
He has been charged with first‑degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, first‑degree child endangerment and other felony offenses. A judge has ordered that he be held without bond pending trial.
The victim remains at a nearby hospital in stable condition as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting. Neither Jimmy John’s nor the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has issued a statement in response to requests for comment.
