Ignorance or complicity by Sen. Collins? | Letter

Sen. Susan Collins enthusiastically supported putting another $70 billion into the hands of Donald Trump’s secret police force. These are the same terrorists who recently murdered Joan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Biddeford, and who illegally kidnapped Maine nurse Debora Kapisha, along with countless others of our neighbors and friends.

Now, Sen. Collins is upset that our tax dollars are being spent on more equipment (“shock gloves”) intended to inflict physical and debilitating pain on people who have been neither charged nor convicted of any crime.

It does not matter if Susan Collins is ignorant of the nature and intentions of this violent, authoritarian and white supremacist regime, or if she is actively complicit with it. Either reality should be wholly disqualifying for anyone hoping to continue their decades-long career in the United States Senate.
