People are curious about how someone with progressive spinal degeneration can participate in a demonstration with such a condition. As someone that has lived with this condition, that has worsened over 30-plus years, I can say that it isn’t easy. I pay for it for hours or days later.
When others see people like me participating in a demonstration, they don’t see those days when we can’t bathe because of the pain and balance issues, or all of the plans that we have to cancel at the last minute — or leave early because of a flare up.
