Ambassador Mike Huckabee Calls for Renewed Focus on U.S. War Effort in Iran

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee told viewers of the “The Big Take” program on Newsmax TV that the American public should drop their war fatigue and recognize the importance of President Donald Trump’s strategy to cripple Tehran’s regime. The former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential hopeful framed the president’s campaign as a rare moment in which the United States is taking a decisive stand against a long‑standing threat.

Huckabee, who has served as U.S. Ambassador since 2022, said the U.S. has been “menacing” Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution that toppled the U.S.-backed Shah and culminated in the 444‑day hostage crisis at the Washington embassy. “Iran’s threat is not to Israel. It is to America,” he said. “They’ve been saying that for 47.5 years.” The ambassador urged Americans to view the war effort not as a source of fatigue but as an effort to “realign the world stage” and to remove a danger that extends beyond Israel.

The war in the Middle East began on February 28, 2024, when U.S. and Israeli forces launched an air campaign that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials. More than six months later, a cease‑fire has yet to materialize. U.S. Admiral Brad Cooper has reported that U.S. forces have struck over 8,000 Iranian military targets, including 130 vessels, in the course of the campaign.

Huckabee highlighted the dual approach being used by the Trump administration. “Not only has the president bombed Tehran, but he’s also taken steps to bankrupt it,” he said. He referred to recent U.S. sanctions announced in August that target Hezbollah and Iranian oil revenue. “When all of that comes together, I’d like to believe the American people might see that what the president has done is realign the world stage,” he said. “He’s taken out a big danger, not just to Israel.”

The economic toll of the war has also become a point of discussion. Researchers at Brown University estimate that U.S. consumers have paid approximately $100 billion more for gasoline and diesel since the conflict began, translating to roughly $760 extra per household. “We need to wake up and understand that Iran has always targeted the red, white, and blue,” Huckabee added, urging a broader sense of national urgency.

In a broader context, the ambassador emphasized that the U.S. is squeezing Tehran on two fronts: militarily and economically. “Now he is in the process of decimating them economically,” he said. The U.S. has also intensified its economic campaign in recent weeks, with sanctions targeting both Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group in Lebanon, and Iran’s oil revenues—an essential source of funding for the regime.

The U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv has been a focal point for the ambassador’s remarks. “This president, thank God, is finally saying enough of this,” Huckabee said, stressing that after 47.5 years, it was time for Iran to act more like a civilized country. His comments came amid continued U.S. airstrikes and a growing list of targets that have been hit across the Iranian military complex.

The ambassador’s remarks reflect the broader debate in Washington over the U.S. strategy toward Iran. While some argue that continued pressure will eventually force the regime to negotiate, others fear that an escalation could lead to further instability in the region and potentially trigger a wider conflict.

For now, the U.S. remains engaged in a complex operation that seeks to dismantle Iran’s military infrastructure and cripple its economic lifelines. The ambassador’s message underscores the need for sustained public support and a clearer understanding of the stakes involved in the ongoing war.
