How the benefits of yoga go beyond stretching

Falmouth’s The Form Lab hosts massive yoga session on rest and recovery
Falmouth, Maine – A yoga instructor at The Form Lab in Falmouth, Maine, led a large gathering of participants to learn how yoga can be used for rest and recovery between workouts. The event, attended by 207 individuals, was run by Liz Merci, a seasoned yoga instructor with the studio.
During the session, Merci guided the group through a series of yoga postures and breathing techniques designed to promote muscle relaxation, improve flexibility, and accelerate recovery. Participants were encouraged to practice mindfulness and focus on slow, controlled movements, emphasizing the role of yoga in complementing traditional fitness routines.
The Form Lab, a local fitness facility known for its diverse training options, provided a supportive environment for athletes, weekend warriors, and everyday fitness enthusiasts to explore a complementary approach to recovery. The event was part of the studio’s ongoing commitment to offering educational workshops that support holistic wellness and performance.
Liz Merci explained the purpose of the session in an informal briefing before the class began. “We wanted to give people the tools to use yoga as a recovery method,” she said. “It’s about finding that balance between training hard and allowing the body to heal.”
The workshop was well attended, with participants praising the practical demonstration and the opportunity to learn techniques that can be incorporated into their own workout routines. The Form Lab plans to host similar sessions throughout the year, aiming to help community members achieve better fitness outcomes through mindful recovery practices.
