Sean Sullivan pitched a complete game and drove in the winning run in the top of the eighth inning as 10th-seeded Noble pulled off a 1-0 upset against second-seeded South Portland in a Class A North baseball quarterfinal Thursday in South Portland.
Sullivan hit an RBI single to lift Noble (9-8-1) to a spot in the regional semifinals Saturday against third-seeded Cheverus. He allowed two hits, struck out four and walked two on 97 pitches.
Hudson Iacuessa pitched a three-hitter for South Portland (15-2), the [No. 2 team in the Varsity Maine poll](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/06/09/varsity-maine-baseball-poll-features-4-top-seeds/). He struck out 14 and walked one.
**CHEVERUS 3, SANFORD 2:** Grady Hughes hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the third-seeded Stags (13-3) a Class A South quarterfinal win over the sixth-seeded Spartans (12-5) in Portland.

Cheverus, the [No. 4 team in the Varsity Maine poll](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/06/09/varsity-maine-baseball-poll-features-4-top-seeds/), advances to face No. 10 Noble in the semifinals on Saturday.
Jackson Holmes hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh for Cheverus to send the game to extra innings. Scottie Sockabasin got the Stags on the board with an RBI single in the sixth. Grady Hughes and Nathan Collins each had a double for Cheverus.

Stags starter Colton Jewett pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits while striking out 12 and walking one. Ben Dumais recorded the final two outs and was credited with the win.
Ryan Alexander and Drew McGrath each had an RBI for Sanford.
**FALMOUTH-GORHAM POSTPONED:** The eighth-seeded Navigators built a 6-0 lead over the top-seeded Rams, but rain made Gorham’s field unplayable, which forced the game to be suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning.
By rule, suspended games do not carry over, they start over. So when Falmouth and Gorham play Friday, they’ll start with the top of the first inning and the score 0-0.
**OXFORD HILLS 13, BRUNSWICK 3:** Cam Pulkkinen had three hits and drove in four runs to boost the top-seeded Vikings (16-1) to a five-inning win over the eighth-seeded Dragons (6-11) in a Class A North baseball quarterfinal in Paris.
The Vikings, [ranked third in the Varsity Maine poll](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/06/09/varsity-maine-baseball-poll-features-4-top-seeds/), will host No. 4 Hampden Academy in the semifinals Saturday.

Pulkkinen was 3 for 4 with a double and three runs. His two-run single sparked a seven-run second inning that gave Oxford Hills a 10-2 lead.
Logan Garascia had two hits and Ben Perry drove in two runs for the Dragons.
**CAPE ELIZABETH 3, LAKE REGION 1:** The Capers (12-5) scored two runs on errors in the bottom of the sixth inning to grab a Class B South quarterfinal win over the Lakers (12-6) in Cape Elizabeth.
Finn Connolly pitched 6 2/3 innings for No. 4 Cape Elizabeth, which advances to face No. 1 Fryeburg Academy on Saturday. He allowed one unearned run on four hits while striking out eight and walking two. Caiden Johnson recorded the final out.
Joseph Grela had three hits and scored twice for Cape Elizabeth.
Jaiden Meehan and Shane Plummer each hit a double for Lake Region.

**FRYEBURG ACADEMY 10, YORK 2**: Brady Chappell pitched a one-hitter and drove in three runs with a pair of hits during a 10-run sixth inning that lifted the top-seeded Raiders (14-3) over the eighth-seeded Wildcats (10-8) in a Class B South quarterfinal in Fryeburg.
Chappell, Alex Allain and Noah Day all singled home two runs, and Chappell capped the outburst with his second double of the game.
On the mound, Chappell struck out seven, walked two and allowed two unearned runs. York scored its runs in the fifth, sparked by Dom Grover’s leadoff single.
Fryeburg, the [No. 8 team in the Varsity Maine Top 10](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/06/09/varsity-maine-baseball-poll-features-4-top-seeds/), will host fourth-seeded Cape Elizabeth at 3 p.m. Saturday.
**GREELY 7, YARMOUTH 2:** Barron Silver hit a two-run single in the first inning and Kyle Soule belted a three-run homer in the sixth as the third-seeded Rangers (12-5) beat the No. 6 Clippers (10-8) in a Class B South quarterfinal in Cumberland.
Greely scored in each of the first three innings to build a 4-0 lead. Yarmouth answered with two runs in the fourth, including an RBI double from Chase Garofoli, but Sam Almy blanked the Clippers the rest of the way. He allowed five hits, struck out six and walked three.

Silver led Greely with three hits. Soule had two hits, as did Yarmouth’s Iggy McGrath.
Greely advances to play second-seeded Leavitt on Saturday.
**WAYNFLETE/NYA 7, SACOPEE VALLEY 5:** Eben Thibodeau had three hits, Camden Gardiner and Kellen Gardiner each homered, and fifth-seeded Waynflete/NYA (11-6) scored three runs in the top of the seventh to get past the fourth-seeded Hawks (8-9) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Hiram.
Tanner Hale, Owen Barsanti and Silas Nielsen each notched two hits, while Keegan Day struck out 11 for Sacopee.

**OLD ORCHARD BEACH 8, DIRIGO 1:** Trot Moody and Mathew Charron combined on a three-hitter, and the third-seeded Seagulls (13-4) got past the sixth-seeded Cougars (8-9) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Old Orchard Beach.
The Seagulls will travel to face No. 2 Maranacook (15-2) on Saturday.

Moody started on the mound and struck out six in 2 2/3 innings, then Charron replaced him and recorded four strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings.
Moody also was 2 for 4 with a double and a run. Evan Moody drove in three runs.
Trevor Crosby, Ty LaPointe and Owen Smith got Dirigo’s hits.
SOFTBALL
**POLAND 7, LEAVITT 3:** The fifth-seeded Knights (11-6) scored five runs in the top of the 10th to take down the fourth-seeded Hornets (10-7) in a Class B South quarterfinal in Turner.
Poland advances to face No. 1 Medomak Valley (16-1) in the semifinals on Saturday.
Leavitt trailed 2-1 and was down to its last strike in the bottom of the seventh before Jordyn Boulay forced extra innings with an RBI single.

After two scoreless innings, the Knights broke up the stalemate when Carly-Ann Jarvis, who was placed on second base at the start of the 10th, scored on an error. Leavitt fielding miscues helped Poland score four more runs with only one hit in the inning.
Both pitchers went the distance. Poland’s Karlee Lathrop earned the win by striking out six, walking two and scattering nine hits. Leavitt’s Hailey Cyr fanned three, walked two and allowed six hits.
**LAKE REGION 5, ERSKINE ACADEMY 2**: Ella Gibbons had two doubles and a triple and drove in two runs to lead the second-seeded Lakers (13-4) over the sixth-seeded Eagles (11-7) in a Class B South quarterfinal in Naples.
Haley Hamlin pitched a complete game for Lake Region, allowing two hits while striking out 13 and walking one.
**MEDOMAK VALLEY 5, GREELY 0:** Sidney Nicholls pitched a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts and no walks as the top-seeded Panthers (15-2) beat the eighth-seeded Rangers (12-6) in a Class B South semifinal in Waldoboro.
Medomak took the lead with a run in the third inning, then broke it open with four runs in the fourth, aided by Arianna Sproul’s two-run single.

The lone base runner for Greely was an infield single by Sophie Smith in the fifth inning.
**YORK 12, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 2:** Maddie Fitzgerald drove in four runs with a home run, a double and a single, and the second-seeded Wildcats (16-1) advanced to the Class B South semifinals by defeating the seventh-seeded Falcons (11-7) in a six-inning game in York.
Orso allowed only two hits and struck out six.
**CHEVERUS 8, BIDDEFORD 0:** Addison DeRoche pitched a one-hitter with 18 strikeouts and one walk, leading the top-seeded Stags (17-0) to a Class A South quarterfinal win over the eighth-seeded Tigers (9-9) in Portland.
Cheverus, [ranked No. 1 in the Varsity Maine poll](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/06/09/one-game-alters-varsity-maine-softball-poll/), will play Saturday against the winner of Friday’s quarterfinal between Windham and Gorham. That game was rained out Thursday.

Hailey Lamontagne had two hits, including a double, and finished with two RBI and three runs scored. Cameron Gagnon also doubled, Anna Goodman had two hits and three RBI, and Kylie Lamson chipped in with two hits and two RBI.
Corinne Ramunno got the only hit for Biddeford.
**BONNY EAGLE 8, SOUTH PORTLAND 5:** Emily Ireland and Lily Parker both drove in two runs, and the second-seeded Scots (14-3) beat the seventh-seeded Red Riots (11-7) in a Class A South quarterfinal in Standish.
Reese Bryant collected three hits, including a double, and scored three times for Bonny Eagle, which advances to play No. 3 Westbrook on Saturday. Bella Hanson also had three hits.
Annie Soucy had two hits and an RBI, while Jillian Edgar and Olive Manns also recorded two hits for South Portland.
**WESTBROOK 8, SCARBOROUGH 5:** Emma Rice and Emma Boulette each had three hits, Greta Krantz drove in three runs, and the third-seeded Blue Blazes (14-3) defeated the sixth-seeded Red Storm (11-7) in a Class A quarterfinal in Westbrook.

Krantz hit a two-run single during a four-run first inning.
Emma Clukey and Elyse Broad both contributed two hits for the Blue Blazes.
Scarlett Floyd hit two triples for Scarborough.
**NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 9, RICHMOND 3:** Sophomore pitcher Lily Fortin recorded her 300th career strikeout and drove in three runs as the second-seeded Panthers (15-1) beat the seventh-seeded Bobcats (5-10) in a Class D South quarterfinal in Yarmouth.
Fortin struck out 14 and allowed seven hits and one walk.
NYA broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, keyed by Cami Casserly’s two-run double.

Brooke Fournier and Taylor Johansen both had two hits for Richmond.
**OLD ORCHARD BEACH 13, TELSTAR/GOULD 11:** Reagan Partridge hit a two-run inside-the-park home run in the top of the eighth inning, lifting the fifth-seeded Seagulls (10-7) over the fourth-seeded Rebels (13-4) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Bethel.
Old Orchard Beach overcame a 9-4 deficit by scoring six runs in the sixth, then tied the game in the seventh after Telstar/Gould regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Telstar pounded out 19 hits, as eight of the nine starters collected at least two hits, led by Cadie Campbell, Brooklyn Deprey and Kendall Duchart with three each.
Partridge was 3 for 5 with a triple, three RBI and four runs scored. Emilia Michaud also drove in three runs with a single and a double.
The Seagulls next face No. 1 seed Dirigo on Saturday.

**DIRIGO 7, SACOPEE VALLEY 1:** Lana Waite struck out 15 batters to help the top-seeded Cougars (16-1) bounce the eighth-seeded Hawks (6-11) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Dixfield.
Dirigo will host No. 5 Old Orchard Beach (10-7) in the semifinals on Saturday.
Waite allowed three hits and three walks over seven innings. She also went 2 for 4 at the plate with a triple and an RBI. Madisyn Bradeen tripled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice. Abby Luczynski had two hits and two RBI, and Leah Turnbull had a double and an RBI for Dirigo.
Charlotte Cyr had two of Sacopee Valley’s hits, including a triple, and drove in the lone run.
