High‑School Soccer Showdowns Yield Big Wins for Biddeford and Scarborough

Biddeford, Maine – Monday

In a quiet yet decisive match at Biddeford High School, the boys’ soccer team edged Sanford 1‑0 thanks to a second‑half strike by Agostinho Makengo. The lone goal, assisted by teammate Luzizila Makengo, proved the difference in a game that kept Sanford’s season at a low 2‑5 record.

“The play felt natural,” Agostinho reflected after the match. “I just followed the movement and got the shot in the net.” Luzizila’s assist, a sharp pass into the box, was noted for its timing and precision, helping to break the deadlock that had persisted through the first half.

With the win, Biddeford’s record improves, though the full season tally isn’t disclosed. Sanford’s defeat marks a tough outing, as the team struggles to find momentum in the current stretch.

Scarborough, Maine – Monday

The second game of the day saw Scarborough High School’s “Red Storm” overwhelm the Kennesaw Rams 5‑0 in a high‑scoring affair at the home field. The victory is part of a 4‑2‑1 season for Scarborough, while Kennesaw’s record stands at 3‑4‑1.

Yoshua Indondo was the star of the match, scoring a brace that set the tone early on. Connor Casey also made a significant impact, adding a goal and contributing two assists. Nsimba Ilunga added to the tally with a goal and an assist of his own, while Joseph Walker capped off the evening with his own goal.

Defensively, Kennesaw’s goalkeeper Griffin Whitney made six saves, but it wasn’t enough to stem the tide. On the other side, Ben Gorham and Josh Serafin shared a clean sheet, effectively shutting down the Rams’ offense for the entire game.

“Scoring five goals in one match feels great,” Indondo said after the game. “We were all focused on the game plan and executed it well.” Casey echoed the sentiment, noting that the team’s coordination had paid off in both offense and defense.

The Red Storm’s 5‑0 win not only gives the team momentum heading into the remaining season but also improves their standing in the league standings. Kennesaw, meanwhile, will look to regroup after the heavy loss as they prepare for their next match.
