High‑School Teacher Charged with Multiple Sexual Offenses Involving Six Teenagers

A 25‑year‑old teacher from Alexander High School in Douglas County, Georgia, has been charged with a series of sex‑crime allegations that now involve six teenagers. Maris Nicols, who was first arrested in late March for alleged sexual conduct with a student, faces new accusations of grooming, sexual assault and child molestation, according to court documents obtained by local media.

Nicols was taken into custody on Thursday after police received reports that she had engaged in sexual activities with a minor. She is now charged with grooming a minor, sexual assault and child molestation, and is also accused of sending nude photographs and videos of herself, including footage of her masturbating with a sex toy during live video chats with at least two students under the age of 16. Prosecutors say she also texted two male students, describing sexual acts she wanted them to perform, and sent nude images to a female student while encouraging her to watch the movie “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

In addition, investigators allege that Nicols had sex with another student in the rear of a truck at a golf club. Earlier this month, she was accused of having sex with a student in a school closet and in a Hummer parked in a driveway, according to court filings.

The teacher’s bond was set at $74,000. She was released on bond Friday after posting the required amount. Her lawyer has not released any statement to the media.

School District Response

The Douglas County School System, which oversees Alexander High School, issued a statement to parents following Nicols’ first arrest. The letter described the district as “deeply troubled” by the allegations and said it had immediately launched an investigation. School officials also said they would continue to cooperate fully with state and local law enforcement and that they could not provide additional details at this time. The district advised parents to direct any further inquiries to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

“We are working with law‑enforcement agencies to investigate these serious allegations,” the letter read. “The district cannot provide additional information regarding the allegations.”

Legal Context

The new charges bring Nicols into a broader crackdown on child exploitation and sex‑crime offenses that has seen the arrest of more than 300 individuals across the state in the past year. Prosecutors say that grooming a minor—a term that describes the process of building trust with a child in order to facilitate sexual activity—constitutes a serious offense under Georgia law. If convicted, Nicols faces potential prison time ranging from several years to decades, depending on the severity of the charges.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has not yet issued a statement regarding the latest allegations. Fox News Digital reached out to the sheriff’s office for comment but has not yet received a response.

Community Impact

Alexander High School students and parents have expressed shock and distress over the allegations. Parents who have already received the school district’s letter have called for greater transparency and a thorough review of the school’s safeguarding policies. School officials have reaffirmed their commitment to student safety and indicated that they will support any investigative process.

Nicols’ case has drawn national attention, as it exemplifies the ongoing concerns about teacher misconduct and the protection of minors in educational settings. The district has called on law‑enforcement agencies to maintain a diligent focus on child safety and to ensure that such incidents are fully investigated and prosecuted.

Next Steps

Nicols is scheduled to appear in court on May 15 to address the new charges. If she is found guilty, the case could lead to a significant prison sentence and a lifetime prohibition from working with minors. The school district has announced that it will conduct an internal review of its hiring and supervision procedures and will provide additional training for staff on appropriate boundaries and reporting protocols.

The investigation into Nicols’ conduct is ongoing. The Douglas County School System has urged parents and students to contact the sheriff’s office with any information that could assist the investigation. Meanwhile, the local community continues to watch closely as the legal proceedings unfold.
