Now that summer has officially arrived, southern Mainers are looking to fill their evenings with fresh air, sunshine and community. One easy activity is attending a free outdoor concert. The music industry is dominated by streaming services tailored to our preexisting tastes, and these events are a great way to diversify your musical diet and discover some local artists face-to-face.
Here are four spots near Gorham with offerings.
Gorham Summer Concerts in the Gazebo
From a large jazz band to two different husband-and-wife duos, Gorham is bringing a [range](https://gorhamme.myrec.com/info/activities/program_details.aspx?ProgramID=14922) of crowd-pleasing tunes to the gazebo on the Municipal Center lawn at 75 South St. this summer. On Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m., visitors can bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs to see a show. If it rains, the performance will move inside to Shaw Gym.

Standish Summer Concert Series

From 6:30 to 8 p.m., musicians and listeners will gather at the Village Park Gazebo at the corner of the intersection of Routes 11 and 113.

Vallée Square Concert Series in Westbrook
Vallée Square will be closed to traffic for part of the summer, making way for a stage to take over the street. Set up beside the city’s River Walk with a view of its waterfalls, [free live music](https://www.downtownwestbrook.com/summer-concert-series/) on Thursdays starting at 7 p.m. will be accompanied by a bar with drinks for purchase. The lineup this summer is mostly tribute bands, offering a throwback experience.

Scarborough Concerts in the Park
For a more relaxed Thursday scene, check out the [lineup](https://www.portlandregion.com/concerts.html) at Scarborough’s Memorial Park. At 6:30 p.m. each week, musicians will play either outside by the gazebo or **in** the Scarborough High School theater if it rains. Visitors can park in the high school parking lot and take the concert shuttle down to the music. Local food trucks will offer dinner and snacks.
