Hearts of Pine recover for draw against Greenville

Portland Settles for Draw After Late Equalizer, Missed Opportunity
The Portland soccer team earned a hard-fought point at home on Sunday, as a late penalty kick from Ollie Wright cancelled out an earlier goal, but the hosts were left to rue a significant missed opportunity in the closing stages.
Wright converted from the spot in the 78th minute to level the match, giving the home side a lifeline after they had fallen behind earlier in the contest. The goal sent the crowd atugin into a frenzy at the Portland Stadium.
Despite drawing level, Portland found themselves with a numerical advantage for the final 18 minutes of regulation time after their opponents were reduced to ten men. The extra space on the pitch presented a golden chance to snatch all three points, but Portland's attacking unit could not capitalize on the favorable circumstances.
Head coach Maria Santos expressed disappointment in the post-match press conference, acknowledging that her squad had created several promising openings during the man-advantage period but failed to convert any of them into quality chances on target.
"We had the momentum and the numbers, and that's exactly when you need to put teams away," Santos said. "Credit to the boys for fighting back, but we have to be more clinical in those moments."
The draw leaves Portland mid-table in the league standings with five matches remaining in the regular season. The team will look to bounce back when they travel to face rivals next Saturday evening.
