Hearts of Pine rally late to earn win over FC Naples

Diego Gonzalez scored in the 88th minute and Mikey Lopez scored in stoppage time as the Portland Hearts of Pine rallied for a 3-2 win over FC Naples in a USL League One game on Friday in Naples, Florida. Portland improves to 5-5-5 in league play and is one point out of a playoff spot after winning back-to-back games for the first time this season. FC Naples is 5-9-2 and in 11th place with 17 points. The Hearts of Pine trailed 2-1 when Gonzalez took a feed from JayTee Kamara near the top of the box and passed it to Mateo Kidd in the box. Gonzalez continued his run and one-time a feed from Kidd into the net to tie it. Lopez then bounced on a ball in front of the net and punched it in for his first goal in 33 games with Portland to give the Hearts of Pine the lead. FC Naples took a 1-0 lead in the 45th minute on a goal by Christopher Garcia. Portland tied it three minutes later when Serigne Mbacke Faye scored his first goal of the season. Portland fell behind again when Andres Ferrin scored in the 73rd minute. Hunter Morse made four saves for Portland, while Edward Delgado stopped three shots for FC Naples. Portland returns to action on July 11 when it faces the New York Cosmos at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland. Forward Dylan Sing made his debut with Portland on Friday. The Hearts of Pine acquired Sing on a short-term loan from USL Championship side Indy Eleven on Wednesday. Sing scored eight goals in two seasons with Crown Legacy FC in MLS Next Pro, before joining in Indy Eleven. Sing had two goals in 10 USL Championship appearances. Copy the Story Link
