Hearts of Pine midfielder Ollie Wright done for season with knee injury

Portland Hearts of Pine midfielder Ollie Wright to miss remainder of season after ACL tear
Portland, Maine – Portland Hearts of Pine midfielder Ollie Wright announced on Instagram that a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) will sideline him for the rest of the 2026 USL League One season.
Wright, the 27‑year‑old Englishman who has played a key role for the Hearts of Pine since the club’s inaugural season in 2025, suffered the injury in the 13th minute of a 1‑1 draw against Chattanooga, Tennessee. The match, played on a Saturday night, was the first of the season in which Wright had appeared.
In his post, the midfielder said, “To tell you the truth, I’m absolutely devastated.” He also noted that the injury was “career‑threatening,” underscoring the severity of the damage.
Wright’s season‑long contributions have been substantial. In 2025, he appeared in 32 matches and started 27 of them, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists. His performances earned him a place on the USL League One second‑team roster. The following year, he played 26 games, adding six goals and four assists to his record.
The Hearts of Pine, which competes in the third tier of American professional soccer, will now have to adjust its midfield options as the team prepares for the remaining fixtures. The club’s medical staff has confirmed that the ACL tear will require surgical repair and a lengthy rehabilitation period, effectively ending Wright’s participation for the season.
Wright’s injury comes at a time when the Hearts of Pine are pushing to establish themselves as a competitive force in USL League One. While the club has not yet announced a replacement, the loss of a prolific midfielder will be keenly felt on the field.
Portland fans and supporters of the club will no doubt hope for a swift recovery for the 27‑year‑old. The club’s website will post updates on Wright’s rehabilitation progress as the season continues.
