Hannah Pingree lights the way for Democrats | Letter

I recently had the opportunity to meet Hannah Pingree at a reception on the island of Islesboro. It’s not often that politicians trek over to an island; we don’t have enough votes to “make a difference.” But Hannah grew up on an island (North Haven) and understands the importance of every individual in Maine, no matter where they live.
Most importantly, Hannah represents the future of the Democratic Party. Smart, studied and only 49 years old (!), she has built a strong resume in state politics over the past 20-plus years. She is well-centered in her politics and a strong proponent of issues that matter to Mainers: affordable housing, taxes and women’s rights. She will protect Maine as much as possible from the unwanted intrusions of the current White House.
We need to elect her as our next governor and we need the Democratic Party to understand that she is the kind of candidate we need across the country.
