Greater Southern Maine falls in 1st game at American Legion Baseball Northeast Regional

Greater Southern Maine lost to host Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, 9-1, in its first game of the American Legion Baseball Northeast Regional Tournament on Thursday.
The Maine champion based out of Sanford, will play Essex, Vermont in an elimination game at 2 p.m. Friday. Shrewsbury will play Bedford, New Hampshire in a winners’ bracket game at 6 p.m. Friday.
Calvin Sanft had an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning for Greater Southern Maine. Parker Bjorklund added a double.
Owen Mongeon was 3 for 4 with two RBI, while Thomas Kursonis also drove in two runs for Shrewsbury. Brendan Parisi pitched a complete game, allowing four hits, striking out six and walking two.
