Gorham Little League softball wins again at New England Regional

Gorham scored four runs in the second inning and six more in the fourth on its away to a 10-0 mercy-rule win over Vermont in an elimination game at the Little League Softball New England Regional on Tuesday morning in Bristol, Connecticut.

The Maine champion advances to face the loser of Tuesday’s second game between Connecticut and Rhode Island at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Connecticut-Rhode Island winner moves on to the championship game on Thursday against the winner of Wednesday’s game, which will be streamed on ESPN.

Natalie McCurdy allowed one hit in four scoreless innings for Gorham. She struck out nine and walked one.

Karli Piacitelli and Amelia Cote each went 2 for 2 with two RBI and two runs scored. Maeve McDonald added two hits and scored twice as Gorham took advantage of three Vermont errors.

Hayden West ended the game with a two-run single in the fourth inning.
