Sophia Santiago was 3 for 3, including her second inside-the-park home run of the tournament, to lead Gorham to a 17-1 mercy-rule win over New Hampshire in the Little League Softball New England Region tournament Monday in Bristol, Connecticut.

The Maine champion advanced in the losers’ bracket with the three-inning win to face Vermont in another must-win game at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Santiago, who drove in six and scored three times, gave Gorham the lead in the first inning when she drove a hard ground ball down the third-base line that rolled to the fence. Sloane Taaffe scored from first and Santiago rounded the bases for a 2-0 lead. Karli Piacitelli added an RBI single and Amelia Cote a sacrifice fly in the first.

Gorham added six runs in the second, including a two-run double by Santiago, and ended it with seven runs in the third.

Piacitelli and Hayden West both went 2 for 2 with two RBI and a run for Gorham. Taaffe scored three times, while Nora Emlet and Morgan Allen both scored twice.

Natalie McCurdy earned the win, allowing an unearned run on four hits, striking out six and walking two.
