Friday’s high school football: Biddeford rebounds, takes down Westbrook

Biddeford’s Lembissa Sparks 31‑14 Victory Over Westbrook in Friday Night Showdown
Biddeford High School pulled off a decisive win over Westbrook High in a Class B South football game Friday night, outscoring the 1‑4 Wildcats 31‑14 at the home field. The game was highlighted by a two‑touchdown performance from running back Estevao Lembissa, who also returned a kickoff 87 yards for the go‑ahead score.
The first two minutes of the contest were a flurry of scoring. Lembissa burst down the middle for a 7‑yard touchdown on Biddeford’s opening drive. Westbrook answered with a kickoff return by Cole Tanner that brought the score level at 7‑7. Biddeford quickly regained the lead when quarterback Ernest Dore connected on a 17‑yard pass to Trey Coleman, putting the Bears at 14‑7. Westbrook’s final play of the first quarter – a 12‑yard touchdown pass from Beckett Griffin to Andre Hicks III – cut the Bears’ advantage to a single point (14‑13).
With the score tied, Lembissa set the tone for the remainder of the game. He returned the kickoff 87 yards, giving Biddeford a comfortable lead that proved to be the turning point. Cameron Bergeron then extended the margin with a 61‑yard screen‑pass run that pushed the score to 25‑14. In the third quarter, Lembissa added a 53‑yard rushing touchdown, putting the final score at 31‑14 after the Bears’ successful extra point.
Biddeford finished the game with a 4‑1 record, while Westbrook fell to 1‑4. Lembissa’s two touchdowns and two long returns accounted for a large portion of the Bears’ offense, and the team’s special‑teams play proved decisive. The game was a showcase of explosive playmaking and a testament to the Bears’ growing competitiveness in the Class B South.
