Franklin Arias homers twice in Sea Dogs’ win over Fightin Phils
PORTLAND, Maine — The Portland Sea Dogs secured their fourth consecutive victory Tuesday night, defeating the Eastern League's visiting Harrisburg Senators 6-3 at Hadlock Field.
Shortstop C.J. Arias drove in two runs and collected three hits, including a crucial two-run double in the fifth inning that extended Portland's lead. Center fielder Marcus Washington added a solo home run and scored twice, while designated hitter Seth Norkett went 2-for-4 with an RBI single.
Starting pitcher John Holobetz delivered six solid innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out four batters. The right-hander threw 92 pitches and kept the Senators' offense off balance with a mix of fastballs and breaking balls.
"I felt good out there today," Holobetz said. "The guys gave me some run support early, and I was able to work ahead in counts."
Relievers Tyler Gilbert and David Hamilton combined for three shutout innings to close out the game. Gilbert earned his second save of the season after recording the final out in the ninth.
Harrisburg's starter, left-hander Zach Spoelman, lasted four innings and surrendered four runs. The Senators managed only three hits after the third inning against Portland's bullpen.
The Sea Dogs' winning streak matches their longest stretch of the young season. They'll look to continue the momentum Wednesday night when they host Harrisburg again at 6:05 p.m.
