Franklin Arias, Anthony Eyanson chosen for Futures Game
PORTLAND SEA DOGS PROSPECTS SELECTED FOR AMERICAN LEAGUE ALL-STAR FUTURES GAME
Portland Sea Dogs shortstop Franklin Arias and pitcher Anthony Eyanson have been named to the American League All-Star Futures Game, which will be held Sunday at noon at Citizen Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Arias, currently ranked as the seventh-best prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, is delivering strong numbers for the team. He is batting .332 with a 1.020 OPS and has reached his career-high of 17 home runs. Eyanson, meanwhile, represents MLB.com's No. 54 prospect, posting a 1.29 ERA and 71 strikeouts across 55 two-thirds of an innings in his first professional season. The pitcher has gone 9-0 in nine of his 13 appearances, holding opponents without an earned run in eight of those outings.
The selections highlight the growing talent pool within the Portland Sea Dogs organization. Arias has become a cornerstone of the club's offense, consistently producing extra-base hits while maintaining solid contact skills throughout the regular season. The Sea Dogs added two more runs in the fifth inning through RBI singles by Jack Winnay and doubles by Nate Baez.
